Neighbourhood Guide
What to know about Hawks Ridge.
Hawks Ridge sits on the south shore of Big Lake, between Winterburn Road and Parkland County. The May 2024 consolidation of the Hawks Ridge Neighbourhood Structure Plan sets Big Lake on the north, 215 Street NW (Winterburn Road) on the east, the edge of Horseshoe Ravine on the south, and 231 Street NW on the west.
It is one of six neighbourhoods in the Big Lake Area Structure Plan. North of the houses, the plan shows Big Lake and Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park. The east side is Big Lake Neighbourhood One, which the plan identifies as Trumpeter. West is Helenslea Estates in Parkland County. The plan describes a residential mix, local commercial sites, and paths that tie the streets to the lake and the ravine.
Council adopted the plan as Bylaw 15547 on September 13, 2010, when it was called Big Lake Neighbourhood 3. Bylaw 15819 renamed it Hawks Ridge. The May 2024 consolidation includes Bylaw 20806, approved May 13, 2024, which allows a mixed-use site under a standard zone.
The City of Edmonton open-data release of the 2021 federal census records 930 residents in Hawks Ridge. The count is filed under neighbourhood number 4473, in the West Henday district and the Nakota Isga ward. The census figure is the 2021 count, not a current population.
School designation for an address in Hawks Ridge comes from Edmonton Public Schools or Edmonton Catholic Schools, not from this page. Each division publishes an address lookup because attendance areas change. A school or park site named in a neighbourhood plan is a designation. It is not a statement that a named school is open.
