Neighbourhood Guide
What to know about Wedgewood Heights.
Wedgewood Heights is a west-end Edmonton neighbourhood within the West Jasper Place South Area Structure Plan. Anthony Henday Drive bounds it west, Wedgewood Ravine east, and Lessard Road and 184 Street north. The land was annexed as Edmonton's western edge expanded; the name comes from the ravine, and local streets honour notable Edmontonians.
Housing is entirely single-detached. Building began sparingly in the 1960s, eased through the 1970s, and most of the neighbourhood went up in the 1980s and 1990s. That staggered build-out left a mix of lot sizes and home styles along Wedgewood Crescent. Freehold, low-density and almost wholly owner-occupied, it feels settled rather than transitional.
Wedgewood Ravine and the North Saskatchewan River Valley are the defining amenities, linked by a landscaped pedestrian corridor along a pipeline right-of-way, with a central park site. Area schools include Michael A. Kostek and S. Bruce Smith (Edmonton Public) and Good Shepherd and Blessed Oscar Romero (Edmonton Catholic); confirm your address with the division's attendance-area finder. There is no LRT, so transit is ETS buses on Lessard Road and 184 Street.
For buyers, Wedgewood Heights offers ravine access, quiet crescent streets and a mature, all-detached setting near the river valley. The trade-offs are real: homes turn over slowly, there is no LRT, and daily shopping means leaving the neighbourhood by car. For sellers, established landscaping and ravine-adjacent lots appeal to buyers wanting a west-end detached home, though the buyer pool is smaller and updated homes stand out.
