Neighbourhood Guide
What to know about Weinlos.
Weinlos is one of the 27 neighbourhoods of Mill Woods in southeast Edmonton, bounded by 50 Street to the west, Mill Woods Road East to the east, 34 Avenue to the north and 23 Avenue to the south. Development began in the 1970s but the bulk arrived in the 1980s, with internal streets laid out in a curvilinear pattern around a central collector road.
Housing is low-density residential: single-detached homes built in the 1980s on standard suburban lots, with higher-density units clustered next to the central school and park site and along Mill Woods Road East, the eastern edge.
Two Edmonton Public Schools serve the community: Weinlos School, Kindergarten to Grade 6, and Kate Chegwin School, a junior high that opened in 1992. The Ridgewood Community League runs a hall and outdoor rink at Mill Woods Road East and 37 Avenue. With no commercial land, shopping leans on Mill Woods Town Centre to the west, which anchors the Mill Woods stop, southern terminus of the Valley Line Southeast LRT.
For buyers, Weinlos offers an established Mill Woods address with LRT access a short walk away. For sellers, that location and the 1980s detached stock keep it in front of families who want space near the town centre. The trade-off is age: most homes are into their renovation years, so expect dated kitchens and bathrooms, original windows and furnaces, and inspection findings. Buyers give up new-build finishes and large lots, and should weigh the denser edges and traffic along Mill Woods Road East.
