Westmount

Westmount is among Edmonton's oldest established neighbourhoods and one of its most architecturally distinctive. Located west of Downtown between 111 Avenue and Stony Plain Road, from 121 Street toward 142 Street, Westmount developed primarily before World War One and retains the highest concentration of pre-war single-family homes of any Edmonton neighbourhood. Walking its streets is a genuine heritage experience — Craftsman bungalows, two-storey foursquares, and early 20th-century character homes sit on generous lots behind mature elms that have grown undisturbed for over a century.

Neighbourhood Guide

What to know about Westmount.

The housing stock is overwhelmingly single-family detached, with some semi-detached and low-rise multi-unit properties on its edges. Renovation and careful infill have preserved the character of the area without overwhelming it. The 124 Street corridor runs along Westmount's eastern edge, bringing Edmonton's most celebrated strip of independent restaurants, galleries, and boutiques directly to residents' doorsteps. Stony Plain Road to the south offers additional commercial access.

The Groat Ravine runs through the western portion of the neighbourhood, providing natural green space and trail connections to the river valley below. Schools within the community serve local families at the elementary level. Transit connections on Stony Plain Road and 124 Street provide reliable access to Downtown.

For buyers, Westmount is one of those rare inner-city neighbourhoods that has never gone out of style — its architecture, tree canopy, location, and proximity to 124 Street create a combination that consistently commands strong demand. For sellers, properties here tend to attract buyers who have specifically sought the neighbourhood out, typically translating to motivated, informed purchasers and stable pricing.
