Neighbourhood Guide
What to know about Stillwater.
Stillwater is one of five Riverview neighbourhoods, west of a realigned 199 Street. The May 2025 consolidation of the Stillwater Neighbourhood Structure Plan covers about 315 hectares. The plan sets 23 Avenue, also called Maskekosihk Trail, on the north, realigned 199 Street on the east and on the south, and Winterburn Road (215 Street NW) on the west at the city boundary.
Four ecological complexes sit inside those boundaries, and the plan ties naturalized stormwater ponds to them. Housing in the plan runs from single and semi-detached homes through row housing and street-oriented housing to low-rise, medium and high density sites. A town centre is planned at 23 Avenue and 199 Street, with smaller commercial nodes to the northwest and southwest, and a western institutional site that can hold a place of worship.
The plan sets aside two school and community park sites on the collector roads: a public kindergarten-to-grade-9 site in the north and a separate kindergarten-to-grade-9 site further south. Each is sized in the plan for a school building, playfields and parking, and the plan says construction waits on the school boards. Vehicle access is planned from 199 Street, 23 Avenue and Winterburn Road.
The City of Edmonton open-data release of the 2021 federal census records 900 residents in Stillwater. The count is filed under neighbourhood number 4468, in the West Henday district and the sipiwiyiniwak ward. The census figure is the 2021 count, not a current population.
School designation for an address in Stillwater comes from Edmonton Public Schools or Edmonton Catholic Schools, not from this page. Each division publishes an address lookup because attendance areas change. A school or park site named in a neighbourhood plan is a designation. It is not a statement that a named school is open.
