Local notes

What to know about Spruce Grove.

A separate city, not an Edmonton neighbourhood

Spruce Grove has its own council, land-use bylaw, and area structure plans. Vacant fields beside a house may already be planned for housing, commercial use, a school, or a park. The City points buyers to those plans and to Planning and Development before assuming the edge of a subdivision will stay open.

Route 560 and on-demand transit

Spruce Grove Transit publishes Route 560 between Spruce Grove and Edmonton, plus on-demand local service in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Parkland Village, and Acheson. It is a scheduled commuter route and a booked local service, so the timetable matters more than a general claim that the city has transit.

Parks, and a 2024 trail toward Stony Plain

The City’s parks pages list neighbourhood parks, playgrounds, water-play areas, off-leash areas, and a connected trail system. They also record a joint trail connection to Stony Plain added in 2024. Which park sits beside a particular lot is a map question, not something this page assigns street by street.

Two school authorities use city facilities

The City says school facilities are used through agreements involving Parkland School Division and Evergreen Catholic Separate School Division. Designation, programs, and transportation change. Verify the address with the division that applies.
