Neighbourhood Guide
What to know about The Uplands.
The Uplands is Riverview's northernmost neighbourhood, along Wedgewood Creek. The June 2026 consolidation of The Uplands Neighbourhood Structure Plan covers about 280 hectares, with Wedgewood Creek and Anthony Henday Drive on the north, 23 Avenue and the Henday on the east, 23 Avenue on the south, and Winterburn Road (215 Street NW) on the west at the city boundary.
The plan describes housing and a town centre beside the Wedgewood Creek ravine, plus business employment land. Council authorized the planning work on August 28, 2013, and adopted the plan as Bylaw 17269 on September 22, 2015. It began as Riverview Neighbourhood 1 and was renamed The Uplands by Bylaw 17970. The June 2026 consolidation includes Bylaw 21526, approved June 23, 2026, which added a mixed-use category and refreshed the land use statistics. The plan expected building to start in 2015 and to run for 10 to 15 years. That schedule is the plan's expectation, not a count of finished homes.
The City of Edmonton open-data release of the 2021 federal census records 830 residents in The Uplands. The count is filed under neighbourhood number 4464, in the West Henday district and the sipiwiyiniwak ward. The census figure is the 2021 count, not a current population.
School designation for an address in The Uplands comes from Edmonton Public Schools or Edmonton Catholic Schools, not from this page. Each division publishes an address lookup because attendance areas change. A school or park site named in a neighbourhood plan is a designation. It is not a statement that a named school is open.
