Neighbourhood Guide
What to know about Marquis.
Marquis is Horse Hill's second neighbourhood, between Manning Drive and Horsehills Creek. The August 2025 consolidation of the Marquis Neighbourhood Structure Plan sets Manning Drive and 195 Avenue on the north, the North Saskatchewan River valley on the east, Horsehills Creek and the river valley on the south, and Horsehills Creek on the west.
The plan calls Horsehills Creek a locally environmentally sensitive area and a link into the river valley. It says stormwater outfalls will not go into the creek or its tributaries, and that creek crossings and valley access need an environmental review under Bylaw 7188. Natural areas F10, NE179 and NE133 are described as habitat links inside the plan. The land use concept also includes a town centre and business employment land.
Council adopted the plan as Bylaw 17022 on April 28, 2015, under the name Horse Hill Neighbourhood 2. Bylaw 17396, approved November 2, 2015, renamed it Marquis. The plan expected development to start in 2015 and to take 15 to 20 years. That timing is the plan's expectation, not a census of who lives there.
The City of Edmonton open-data release of the 2021 federal census neighbourhood file does not include a row named Marquis. The City neighbourhood dataset lists it as neighbourhood number 2671, in the Horse Hill district and the Dene ward.
School designation for an address in Marquis comes from Edmonton Public Schools or Edmonton Catholic Schools, not from this page. Each division publishes an address lookup because attendance areas change. A school or park site named in a neighbourhood plan is a designation. It is not a statement that a named school is open.
